For adoptees, by an adoptee

Trauma-informed, faith-based coaching that helps you reflect, question, and explore your beliefs, assumptions, doubts, and hopes related to your adoption and faith.

Adoptee coaching is priced differently and sessions start at $20 per session with a generous sliding scale depending on your situation.

It is often difficult to find adoptee centered spiritual spaces and services. In addition to coaching adoptive parents, I also provide 1:1 coaching for adoptees wishing to decolonize unhealthy “white savior” theology and develop a healthier and stronger sense of personal faith that takes the adoptee experience into account. It is often difficult but healing to begin this journey and I’d be honored to accompany you.

The difference between coaching & counseling

I am a qualified pastor & coach but I am NOT a mental health counselor or a licensed marriage, family therapist (LMFT). Coaching is an opportunity to unpack and learn helpful skills, new ideas, belief systems, and practical approaches to life. Coaching is NOT meant to be used in place of mental health counseling and therapy for mental illnesses or significant trauma.

Coaching is meant to be an extra tool used to develop a deeper sense of self awareness and new practical skills and approaches to how you live your life and interact in your social-emotional life. It is a helpful part of the journey to self-discovery for some.

My approaches are trauma-informed but coaching is NOT meant to be a place to do significant emotional and behavioral processing. We certainly may get vulnerable and share openly about tough things, but I am not qualified to do any significant counseling on anything to address your anxiety, depression, etc.

While there may be positive effects felt from exploring and learning more about yourself through coaching, it is NOT meant to be the primary way to deal with any significant mental health concerns.

If you are experiencing depression or anxiety and need professional assistance processing and developing mental health coping skills, please contact a licensed mental health professional or speak with your primary care provider.
